Contrasting Fortunes.

Last weekend saw two days of differing fortunes. Alongside the Men’s successful Bramley Bowl campaign. The Ladies travelled to Longmeadow on Saturday and despite a late change to the team Chawton Park were able to win on all three rinks and take a maximum Ten point return with the final score being 73-48. Two rinks won by 12 shots. The rink of Angie Knight, Patricia Brooks, Caroline Goodeve and Janet Williamson won 25-13 and Kate Binfield, Flo Ward, Jacqui Bowles and Alice Atwell 30-18 winners. Equally important was the one shot win by the third quartet of Gilly Firmager, Cheryl Ekblad, Sandy Crocker and Beryl Collier 18-17 winners. Many thanks to Caroline Goodeve who stepped in at very late notice.

Unfortunately Sunday was a different story the Men’s Wessex team lost out to Whiteknights (Reading) by 81 shots to 59. Despite only being two shots behind at Ten ends Whiteknights took control and ran out comfortable winners. Chawton Park won one rink and tied one. The successful rink by 22-17 was Bassa Smith, Dave Thurgood, Graham Sampson and Nathan Beeson.

Also on Sunday the Weekend Friendly team lost to a Parkside team who in winning 119-82 avenged a defeat back in November. Chawton Park won two of the six rinks in play with top rink being the trio of Angela Goman-Smith, Noel Thompson and John Milton 28-8 winners.
