Great Weekend for Chawton Park

We had two teams in action on Saturday. Our women began their Yetton Trophy campaign in a two rink home, two away fixture against Loddon Vale and were successful winning three of the four rinks and by 29 shots overall (90-61). Top rink was the away rink of Sue Murray, Gilli Firmager, Kate Fyfield and skip Claire Flannigan who came out on top by 16 shots (27-11).

Our Men began their Denny Cup campaign with a win over Five Rivers (two home, two away rinks) by 35 shots, again winning three of the four available rinks with an overall score of 86 shots to 51. Top rink was the home rink of Nathan Beeson, Dave Sims, James Shillingford and skip Gary Starks who triumphed by 24 shots. Chawton Park will play Desborough (Maidenhead) in the next round.

On Sunday we played Loddon Vale in the Egham Cup a mixed four rink fixture, two home, two away. Chawton Park were able to win three out of the four rinks and come out winners by 79 shots to 61. Chawton Park were able to keep the two away legs tight sharing the rinks and going down by one shot overall. It was at home where the difference lay winning both rinks by an overall score of 19 shots. Top rink was Tina Chambers, Sandy Crocker, Reece Graham and skip Gary Starks who were 23-12 winners.

In the final fixture of the weekend Chawton Park entertained Alton Social in a Friendly fixture of six triples. This was a a fairly unique event in that all 18 members of the Social side were also Chawton Park members. In a tight affair Chawton Park were able to run out winners by three shots (101-98). With the rinks being shared overall it was thanks to a thumping win of 29-9 by the top rink of Jan Northwood, Robert Hutchinson and skip Gary McLellan that Chawton Park were able to prevail.

This ended a successful weekend for the club winning all four available fixtures.
