2025 National Finalists

Many congratulations to Reece Graham and Leo May who fell agonisingly short in their quest for the National Pairs title. Played over two days in a straight knock out basis Reece and Leo beat Tom Holmes and Ben Harris from Solihull in the last 16 by 21-14 a notable scalp as Tom had won the National singles title the previous day.

Later on the Tuesday in the quarter finals they triumphed over Mick Spear and Vernon Gearey (Kingsthorpe) by 23-14 to set up a semi final on Wednesday morning with Lewis King and Andrew Rodger of Swale. This was a complete performance by the Chawton Park duo winning by 22-4 after 14 ends. Onto the Final where Shaun Jones and Scott Edwards of Westlecot lay in wait. With most of Chawton Park either spectating or watching the EIBA live stream Shaun and Scott went in to an early lead cleverly utilising their preferred tactic of short jacks to great effect. Reece and Leo battled hard but ultimately it was not to be their day losing out by 24-10.

Also on the Wednesday Tina Chambers and Claire Flannigan played their last 16 match against Sandy Hazell and Wendy King from Swale both experienced serial indoor finalists and despite going into an early lead they went down by 18-8 after 16 ends. It will be a small crumb of comfort that Sandy and Wendy went on to win the Final itself.

As a club we are hugely proud of Tina, Claire, Reece and Leo. It is a huge achievement getting to the National Finals let alone in Reece and Leo getting to the Final.
